365 Sustainable Decisions Challenge

🌲 What if we could help forests come back much faster than by planting new trees, supporting flora, fauna and local communities at the same time? 🎋 That is exactly what the LEAD Foundation Tanzania is doing. They allow previously cut trees to regrow from their root systems, using the strength that is already in the ground. 💪 And I’m really happy that I could support this mission by donating to Planet Wild. Imagine a world where tiny, magical creatures like seahorses disappear forever. I refuse to let that happen! That’s why I am proud to support the incredible work of Planet Wild together with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) in protecting the endangered White’s seahorse. White seahorses lived in large number in the Sydney Harbour, but as their seagrass habitat is vanishing, in some areas, their population has plummeted by 90%. But hope is not lost! Together, we helped: 🏨 Build underwater “seahorse hotels”—safe havens that develop into natural reefs. 🐠 Breed, raise, and release baby seahorses—boosting their survival rate from 1% to 20%. 🌱 Restore vital seagrass meadows—bringing back their home. Supporting initiatives like this is deeply important to me because every species matters. Every action counts. Due to the Corona crisis, I was not allowed to visit a barber. So I decided to give the money that I saved by cutting it at home to charity for planting trees.

I have found a search engine that claims to use their profit to plant trees. That is great as I am using a search engine often. I’ve made it my standard search engine immediately.

Last autumn, I went on holiday with one of my friends. We booked the flights well before I started this challenge. So at that point, I wasn’t that conscious yet. As I of course also didn’t want to cancel our holiday, I have decided to carbon offset the flight, so pay for the CO2 emission. This money is used for projects that support our environment.

I really like it when I notice that others are taking action on climate change as well. All in different ways. So I promote others initiatives, this time by signing a petition in favor of our environment.

In this hotel, refraining from having your room cleaned allows you to get a drink in the bar or give €5 euros to a nature and environmental protection association. I don’t want my room cleaned every day, so I chose the second option. And this is – including other environmental-friendly decisions they make – for me a good reason to go to this hotel again.
